The Fattoria Medicea was built in 1515 by order of the Grand Duke Ferdinando I, the grandson of Lorenzo de’ Medici.
Today, after a long and careful restoration, commissioned by the Royal Borghese family, the present owners, this extraordinary property has regained its unique majesty.
The Medici Farm has become the ideal location for banquets, meetings, weddings, events and with the Hotel La Residenza del Granduca, its 33 bedrooms, for the most part overlooking the ancient internal courtyard and garden.
The Fattoria Medicea has a courtyard with a surface of about 10.000 square meters and a private parkeing for 200 cars. Four inner rooms are available for ceremonies, events, congresses and conventions:
- Melograno Room: 130 guests
- Essenze Room: 120 guests
- Bacco Room: 530 guests
- Granaio Room: 530 guests
The orientation in the creation of the garden has crossed the paths of fantasy where order and fake randomness in the arrangement of plants and flowers create spaces with charm made of perfumes and unexpected views. A garden of scents was created, whose geometries contrast against the spontaneous grass along it.
In the selection of plant, rustic species already in ‘area since the second half’ of the sixteenth century were preferred, such as lavender, mint, sage, thyme, rosemary white myrtle.
Inspired by the recipes of the ancient local cuisine of Casa Borghese, essences for the scented garden were chosen, surrounded by climbing roses. The legend and a philology who cannot go on without imagination have marked the restoration of the Medici Farm.
